sabbie it was something that happened in your lifetime
something that affected lots of the people around you
lot of the people your age(ish)

so even if it didnt define you-bobby, i would argue that it helped define your-generational society

yenaldlosi Some food for thought, some perspective from my own generation. Maybe not a ten-year period, but all the stuff i was around to see before i reached an age where the world was prepared to call me an "adult" (i started school late because i was sickly as a child and didn't graduate Highschool until 2 months before my 20th birthday in 1971

Janis, Jimi and Jim, Rest in Peace ...
so i can relate to how many of you felt when Kurt Cobain died, that made me sad too, i did the "cool dad" thing and took my youngest and middle daughters back down into Phoenix to see Nirvana when they played the AZ State Fair the year before he died. I found a funny kind of deja vu later in thinking that my first concert involved a band who would never play through town again because their lead singer died young and that i had taken my children to see a band who would never play through town again for the same reason in the same concert arena

The Kent State Massacre

"We will Bury You!" Nikita Khruschev banging his shoe on his desk in front of the UN General Assembly

There are things i would trade or give up, and there are things that i wouldn't, but it is my guess that one of you will say this very same thing to another generation in another time when you are as old as me
