I heard on npr today that texas just ruled their sodomy law unconstitutional despite numerous protests. As many states debate the issue of same-sex marriages, texas is still trying to decide whether gay people should be allowed to have sex! I was also amused to hear that as each state is allowed to adapt their own definition of "sodomy," Texas has included oral sex as a form of sodomy!
The catch phrase should be: Everything is bigger is Texas... especially the number of ignorant morons.

I must visit texas. It would be great to see places like turtle creek and find out why a movie like "Talk Radio" is based there.
P.S: If you haven't seen Talk Radio I highly reccomend it even though the chances are I can't even spell reecommend.

that was the first time in about 80 years that the sodomy law was envoked. it is not normal practice to arrest people under the circumstances that those 2 were arrested. it was some homophobic cop who saw 2 guys giong at it through their bedroom window, and the cop got his friend at to dig up that little known and outdated law that nobody bothered to strike from the reccords.

i hate texas. any place that spawned Dubya is just evil. and yeah, about that law. Texas didn't rule it unconstitutional. The Supreme Court did. And if it were still up to the state, and about 13 others, those laws would still be in place. Also, I believe the laws apply to all same-sex couple, but not heterosexual couples. That's why it was ruled unconstitutional. That, and the right to privacy. In any case, good on the Supreme Court. But I do agree that our culture has such a stigma against gay men, but not half as much against lesbians........damn dirty old men in charge of entertainment in America.

the particulars of the case is that the couple was caught having sex when a homophobe neighbor aware of the couple decided to call the cops and report a break-in/hostage situation so that the cops would have to bust in on them
now, what i want to know, is why didn't the cops arrest the asshole who phoned in the bogus report, or, why isn't he currently being charged or fined or some such thing? False reports are crimes too.

First, I have to say, celestias shadow, you totally made me laugh. Of course you're not going to have much of a problem with people who think like you.. but then again, who would? It's that kind of ignorance that allows the mentality of texans keep going... cause most of them think alike.
Anyways, yes, the oral sex portion was included in order to try and dissuade lesbians from "practicing" their "sinful" ways. Then again, most men (and I'm going to use men because texas seems to be pretty male dominated), would blow their load if they saw two women with tight bodies and ample breasts going at it with a vigor they themselves can't even muster up when they're masturbating to porn. It's ridiculous that people can't be accepting to what goes on behind closed doors.. granted, if the story about the men in front of the window is true, their curtains should have been drawn instead of letting the whole world see. I won't have sex in front of a window, so why should it be okay for everyone else to? I guess I'm just a fan of modesty. I think it's about time that the "homosexual nation" of the US finally got a break and are allowed to express themselves the same way as the "heterosexual nation" can. Just because the bible says man was made to lie with woman, doesn't make it right to crucify those who are different from you and it's about time that message was made clear. Besides, the bible said a lot of stupid things... like women are to be completely submissive to men. But, let's not get started on that tirade.
