if I have a series of numbers counting up to infinity . . . 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 . . . (and so on) . . . and I have another set of numbers with decimal points counting up to infinity . . . 1.0 1.1 1.2 1.3 1.4 1.5 1.6 1.7 1.8 1.9 2.0 . . . (and so on) . . . are the numbers with the decimal points some how "more infinite" than the whole numbers since there are more of them? Or are there not really any more of them since there is no limit on how many there are in the end? @_@ ...

i operate from the absolute when i should be examining the relative more often than not when my ego is bruised but i still feel there dont need to be grey areas

Grey areas are like comfort zones. I think they're the transitional spot between feeling and knowing. As emotional storms calm and the reality is again visible through the mist, the Grey area fades and we stand again on solid ground, deep breath to face the absolute truth. If I'm strong enough in these moments then the Grey area turns into rainbow_light, storms give way to rainbows in the sunshine of our love, love of love itself. Gray areas are like puffy jackets for the heart in times of isolation and cold hard difficult emotions and circumstances.

the absolute truth is: groundlessness impermanence hoping for solid ground to miraculously appear beneath your feet is futile

Groundlessness and impermanence are part of what make life beautiful. We only have this time, this moment. The fate of destruction is also the joy of rebirth. Hoping is not enough, we have to build and maintain the solid ground, solid spiritual, emotional, and physical ground. The ground is of course subject to change and not reliable. we have to be prepared for change and disaster and adaptable. This not an argument, just the shifting reflection of my own absolute truth, I think we are all Subject to variations in our absoluteness.

my point is (was) there is nothing comforting or absolute about grey areas. but i guess what you said was in no way related or responsive to what i initially said. excuse me. i'm_an_asshole yet again

Expressing feelings, thoughts, opinions... doesn't make any of us an asshole. Especially here where I feel we can have indirectly related conversations and arguments with little to no real harm done. These are just words and we are just names here. We can build our soap boxes as big tall small or dig a hole instead... you know this place, you are part of blather by now it seems to me... so say whatever the hell you wanto say! Worry_free

i used to think i was good with grey areas, but now i think i'm only good with them when there's less at stake. when there's something i want, and it's in grey-area territory, it's hard for me to stay hopeful. maybe that's the same with most people, though.

(thats why i dont deal with grey areas anymore. it either is or it isnt. happiness arises suffering passes faster when they are not obfuscated by reading between the lines and turning the other cheek)

for argument's sake, it can depend on the type of grey area. some areas need to be grey until they can be made black and white, for reasons that aren't anyone's fault. grey areas about grey areas!

I guess it's different if we're talking philosophical uncertainty or people-uncertainty. When people say one thing and mean another in situations where they could (should?) be more honest or straightforward, that hits you harder, whereas it's easier to take a pleasant, interested look into uncertainty about the meaning of life in general, or the infinitude of numbers, etc. - those aren't personal. Maybe.
