i can personally go either way on that one, some girls look really damn sexy with short hair, one of my first girlfriends had her hair cut in a short black bob and since then, that look has always been kind of a turn on for me
on the other hand, another one i spent time with had this long, slightly wavy hair she grew down a fair length past her shoulderblades and i completely adored he way it fanned out over the pillow or hung in my face whenever we made love
(interestingly enough, the one with the long hair was also rather tall by comparison to the one with the short hair, who was very petite ....there's a pattern in my history of stuff like that...i wonder...hell - that could be another poll in itself i think)

I try to keep mine short, it's not that I don't like it long, but it curls at the ends. If I let my hair grow out it would almost be flat on top, and the ends would curl up.

In the eleven years that I've been with the missus, she has had every style, color and length imaginable. She changes her hair style at least once a month, maybe 2 if she likes the one she's wearing. She's been bald 3 times, blue, green, red, purple, blonde, black, brown....hell.. short, long, permed, straight...etc. etc.
Subsequently, I removed hair style from my list of "features to which I am attracted" long ago. My preference is for her to have hair. That's the extent of it.
As for me, I wear my hair short when I get it cut. I used to have long hair waaaaay back before I joined the military. After they shaved it off, I noticed something:
With short hair, not only could I fit in with my old crowd...but suddenly old folx, yuppies and cops treated me differently. Life was less of a hassle with short hair. I like my life to be hassle-free wherever possible, so I've had it cut conservatively ever since.
However: I have my hair cut about once every 4 to 6 months and let it grow out during that time. It usually gets just shy of shoulder-length by then.
I do this for a reason:
In this world there are people that go through life judging situations, places and people based on appearances.
These folx honestly believe that perception...is reality.
When these type of people meet me, I will have either long...or short hair...or something in between.
As per their prime directive, these folx invariably attempt to stick me into a "labelled box" and it usually shows in their attitude towards me.
I watch...and grin. I suppose it's an arrogant grin, as much I'd like to claim it isn't, but it's an arrogant grin of pure amusement that is, for the most part, tempered with compassion for my foolish, fellow man.
A few months pass, either they saw me with long hair, and I cut it super short, or they saw me with short hair and it's grown well beyond the "acceptable" conservative fade...
As expected, this type of person reacts in one of two ways:
If they ORIGINALLY saw me with long hair, they seem to be of the opinion that another "young inexperienced rebel" has finally "gotten with the program". They continue to look down at me. It's absolutely PRECIOUS!!
If they originally saw me with short hair, the reactions can vary:
Some of them think that I'm too cheap to get a haircut.
Some of them think that I must've cut my hair just to "fit in" and that I am now showing my "true colors" with my long hair.
Some of them honestly think I've stopped giving a crap. Heheh.
I've had some that tried to discretely check the back of my head for a bald spot. I guess they think that I'm letting it grow long because it's falling out.
Then, I let it grow long, or cut it again. Their confusion is short-lived however, since they usually have a "labelled box" ready to stick me in as soon as they THINK they've got me pegged.
My long/short hair cycle is like wearing a mohawk, or piercing yer entire face.
The only folx that deserve to know me are those people that are willing to look past appearances, to the reality of who I am.
The main difference between myself and the "anti-socials" is that I can function in practically any social circle...mohawk boy and cheek-ring lad have set themselves up to fail in some.

wow...all detailed...i've liked guys with short hair and with long hair but my absolute fave is the shaggy, eye-length level...only, it doesnt look right on every guy...takes a special guy :)
on girls the only hair i know i cant stand is really stringy long hair. if its full and taken care of its ok long. mines just below my shoulders, but its all frizzy and yuck. i need to get it cut. one of my friends cut her hair into a pixie shag sort of style and all of a sudden half of the school is wearing their hair that way... whatever.

When it comes to girls I truly think it depends on their facial structure and personality az to weather I like it short or long (No inbetween)
On a guy I prefer an under cut and than the rest of the hair to be some wear between just above shoulder length to just below the shoulder blades, I just love running my hands through a guys hair and on African Americans (that is the PC term now right? I don't like offending any one so tell me if I'm wrong) I like well kept dreadlocks that go to the shoulders, esp. if they have prominate cheek bones gah I just melt

my hair is about chin length.. a little shorter in some places. earlier in the year it was a little above my elbows, like at the middle of my back. my ex liked it long but my current likes it short.
but on guys, I really like long hair. a lot. a lot a lot. right now my boyfriend's hair is short because he just shaved off his mohawk... and I dont like it.
long hair on guys is definately the way to go.

the lenth of the guys hair seems to have a direct correllation to the quality of my relationships.
when it's that short, coarse hair it hurts to play with it after a while.
but long or smooth can be played with for hours, much more time to just sit there...and that's when stuff is made
