ergo The laying on of the laundry is an ancient healing ritual.
Indeed, I feel a load has been lifted from me when I lay my laundry on somebody else.

unhinged clean laundry or dirty laundry?

i have a whole pack of kitties to observe in the parking lot of an adjacent apartment building now bird. i have counted at least 12 separate cats back there. its interesting to say the least to watch that many cats have kitty freak out hour around dusk.

my mother had a habit of opening the dryer for awhile to let it cool down before pulling laundry out and the second cat of my childhood had a habit of jumping in there while my mom let it cool, the warm fluffy clothes too seductive of a bed, i suppose. one day my mom opened the dryer to find the clothes weren't quite dry and turned her back for some reason, not noticing the cat had jumped in. she shut the door and turned it back on. good thing she realized there was nothing in the dryer that should have been making that thumping sound.

she ran back to the dryer 'oh shit! the cat!' and out tumbled a very disoriented very fluffy cat.

(i'm sure i've blathed that story before but really; i never get sick of telling it. my mom said she looked like a drunk fro puff stumbling across the basement. she had very long hair and the static made it all stand on end. she was a smart cat though; burn her once and there was no second time to shame on her. needless to say, she never went in the dryer ever again)
