well, I had a root filling in a back tooth years ago, and I was eating some skittles once and out popped the filling. Being the jerk that I am, I didn't go back to the dentist, and instead just chewed on the other side for about 5 years. I finally decide that I should probably get it sorted out, so I register with a ew dentist and they agree that it the tooth should come out. So she's got the pliers and etc in my mouth, snapping bits of tooth off all over the place, but basically the roots are wedged in so tight she can't pull the whole tooth. So now I have a big gap where there used to be a tooth, with roots still in underneath. It's a dead tooth so it shouldn't hurt, but my gums are killing me. The injection was about the most painful thing I've ever experienced. Except for that time I shoved a fork into my tooth by accident. It's a lot better now, just a constant aching. It's still bleeding a little, but it's fine. I have another appointment after xmas by which time they hope the roots will have loosened enough to pull them. I'm not looking forward to that. At least she didn't charge me for the 'extraction'!

I haven't gone to a dentist in almost 2 years... I have to get one of the roots removed due to a failed root canal operation. It always hurts and I don't know how my longer I can wait. I have learned to live with constant pain. I floss everyday, brush twice, and use listerine and warm saltwater to gargle, but it's just not working.

Yow! I had my wisdom teeth removed about a year or so ago and it was actually a breeze. I was pretty scared before they did it but now I can't even remember most of it. Hope the next phase goes smoothly for you u24. Poor superscared, you should probably go in and get it over with. ...

superscared; yeah definately go in and do it. the worst that'll happen is that you'll be in agonising pain for the next few months. Or you'll die. Nah, i'm just kidding, you'll be fine. The pain has subsided to a dull ache that I can almost ignore now. yay!

i haven't gone to a dentist in 17 years because of the aversion i gained from using dental cleaning implements to (and please pardon the pun) extract certain info from deadbeat addicts many years ago. plus, between that and the various fights and scrapes i used to so enjoy getting into, i only have half of my teeth left anyway i've got a real seven_macaw smile now

i'm more averse to the awkward conversation dentists always try to have with you, right before they invade your mouth with their clammy gloves. they always work off an info chart that's like three years old and ask you about your ex-job, ex-dreams, and ex-girlfriends (and you'd think they'd remember that you lost a tooth in that particular break-up). one of these days i'm going to just run out in tears, with the little bib still on and the cleansing solution in my mouth blubbering a muffled "where do i spit, where do i spit". you know, just to see how they react.
