I didn't mean "epic" or "heroic", though. I guess that's sorta the first thing people think of when it comes to the definition of "Homeric". I did a rather intensive study of, you know, the pre-literate improvisation of Homer: epithets, and traditional bardic clauses and metre. But perhaps I ought have said "bardic". Or have stayed away from that comparison altogether. |
