Morning News Confirms: World Too Dangerous To Live In This morning's newscast was nothing new. The usual murders, robberies, scandals and scams. In case you haven't been watching, the world has become much too dangerous a place to live in anymore. Armed personnel are required, and fences and cameras. This is entirely too out-of-hand for us to handle without constant protection. Do not leave your home, do not talk to one another--you never know what you might do to each other when you're both least expecting it. There you could be, having a casual, seemingly pleasant conversation, when the sudden urge to throttle each other blue overtakes either or both of you. It could happen. The news has assured us that random violence is on the rise, and what could be more random than that? This is the new America. We live in a different time than our Founding peoples did. It's not so simple anymore. Freedom was an ok concept back then, but when you're talking 6 billion people worldwide..freedom's just a bit too chaotic and scary of a thing to simply let.."grow wild" so to speak. "In God We Trust" is a perfect example of the sort of naive thinking that dominated the early American landscape. "Give me Liberty or Give me Death" (shudder) can you imagine such a thing? Who would choose liberty over security in this day and age? Can you imagine choosing to DIE rather than give up a single tiny one of your freedoms? Seems pretty silly, looking back on it today, huh? Only 2 things are a necessity in this new, Modern America: Security and Convenience Freedom lovers of America: To repeat, in case you haven't been watching the media man, we're living in the 21st Century. Get with the times you liberty nuts! This isn't the 1700's! We gotta tag our dogs with microchips so they don't get stolen. We gotta let the cops Lo-Jack-to-disable-our-car in order to protect our investment. We've gotta make things easier, and less boooooriiing. We don't really have the luxury of an antiquated, devil-may-care philosophy like freedom anymore. No sir, freedom is definitely..passe'. Locking your doors is in. Talking to each other is out. Driving your car with the windows up, avoiding eye contact is in. Taking the kids Trick-or-Treating is out while tracking them with GPS equipped phones is very in. By all means, please..never forget: Saying hello to random strangers on the street is DEFINITELY O-U-T. And while we're talking what's out and what's in. let's face this fact too: trusting each other is out. There's too much at stake. You could be a pedophile, or a rapist. You might be a kleptomaniac or a con person or an emotional predator. (Or (shhh) a T-E-R-R-O-R-I-S-T) And just look at it from YOUR perspective: I could be all of those things too. I could be thinking really horrible thoughts right now, and you'd never know it until we were casually sipping lemonade at my house and playing lawn darts and a "bad" throw speared you through the head. It COULD happen..this is a very, very sick world we live in; very sick and much too dangerous to live in anymore. I don't know why we would even try. Time to lock ourselves away and only come out to work and to spend our savings at today's featured business like good Americans. News this morning said so.

well, i would prefer not to believe everything of what you have just said, because it is like telling someone that their disease is hereditary. You make it sound like there is nothing we can do about it which is useless to me. Ignorance is one of the biggest problems in the world, people tend to just believe everything they read, 90% of it being negative, there is no wonder why the world is the way it is. I do not believe violence is an answer to anything whether we can sort that out or not is another question however questioning the reason behind terrorism might be a start. To terrorise people is the wrong way to make a point however I believe there is a deeper reason behind it. 50% of the world live in cities, over 20% of which live in slums and we sit there wondering why there is disease. There is no point in saying the world has gone to pot when humans are capable of such amazing things. We can either sit on it and let it continue in this way, let crime and hatred rise or do something about it. I don't know where to start to help but i know i want to. How can we really make a difference, what can i do?
