Kristopher Lately, I have this particularly nasty habit of finding a woman who is:

A) Very Intelligent
B) Very Attractive
C) Slightly Crazy
D) Supreme Joy To Be With

I hang out with them for a while, and then for reasons of their own, they just kind of disappear; off to their own worlds and devices, which is cool.

I guess I would like one of them to hang around a little longer, that's all.

First Sara, then Jamie, then Jessica (although I did see her at the Renaissance Faire a few weekends ago), then Julie.

It kind of makes me sad sometimes. I like staying up late discussing everything and nothing. I like impromptu trips to nowhere.

These are things that aren't fun by yourself.

Is it better to have known a crazy pretty one and lost, then to have never met one at all?

Discuss.

misstree Yes. And every so often the crazy pretty ones alight like butterflies on your finger, and if you have a thimble of nectar they'll stay for a bit. 030903

unhinged most highly intelligent people are kinda nuts. in one way or another. i knew a guy in youngstown who was extremely intelligent; he could beat almost anyone at chess, talk about anything and make it sound like astrophysics...i don't know. he just struck me as super intelligent. but he was also one of the craziest people i knew which in turn made him the funnest person to hang out with (most of the time when he wasn't getting me stoned on hash and giving me full body massages in hopes of getting in my pants and not really taking no for an answer...but again everything is besides the point with me lately). and he always drifted in and out of my social life. i had his phone number or knew it anyway but i never really called him; he was a special dude for special occasions. ivet shows mostly. and then one night i was chilling with him and wendy after a show sitting on the back stoop of paradise alley drinking 40s and smoking bowls at 3am and we started talking about whether he would qualify for the draft (back when good ole dubya was talking about reinstituting it) and he looked at us and said "i've taken over 300 (maybe 500...can't remember) hits of acid in my life. i'm legally insane." and that explained it. that explained all of it. but i think he took all the drugs he did cause he was too intelligent in this bizarre shining pulsating binary star kind of way. oh god back to the fucking point nicole...

they leave cause they are afraid that you are going to leave them.
cause the crazy pretty highly intelligent ones are usually highly sensitive too
or so doped up on whatever they prefer that they don't care about the rest of society anymore
a beautiful_mind is a perfect thing to waste

misstree i think that most people who are highly intelligent are somewhat crazy just as a result. crazy in this case is defined by a) not following social norms, and b) having very strange modes of thought/beliefs/logic sets/chihuahuas. a smart brain needs to do more elaborate loops to entertain itself, and the errors that are allowable in simple systems are intolerable in something that clocks like good grey matter. 030903

unhinged yeah, not to sound like a cope out but that was kind of what i was trying to say before i got distracted by my own brain and it's damn associative things that it does all the time....

maybe it's because intelligent people see social norms for what they are...bullshit

pipedream the crazy ones are always supersmart...but what about the so-so smart ones being crazy?
crazy is so relative that it shouldn't even be a word. but most of my friends are really smart, and crazy...and such a joy to be with- but i also know smart people who are sane and boring, so crazy is the essence we're looking for. crazy because you think out of the box, out of the rules and out of good-girl/boy syndrome.

phil If someone is pretty you see them as intelligent also.

Craziness and insecurity go hand in hand.

They have their minds made up before they even start a relationship, that they won't be able to achieve closeness, handle the stress, feel those emotions.

They long to be with someone complicated, whom they can't be.

They are not the person they want to be, so a relationship is out of the question, really.

DaMon. I look for them everywhere.
I finally found one. But he's gone away now. But "we will meet again".

Meanwhile I look for others.
Others to challenge me,
Others to not give me so much importance,
Others to realize that
all these little things
are not that essential.
So that they will be able to be crazy with me,
to be careless,
to see through illusion.

And be human.

I think they do stay. He has stayed.
I don't know what made him stay.

I want the whole world to be crazy and beautiful.

shivers crazy and beautiful

turing the whole world into that would just destroy it.

patience, and fear, thats why they go away. why should they stay, why should they try with someone who is so amazing in comparison. it's just easier to run away and avoid getting hurt. if we're so crazy why would anyone bother.

DaMon. I guess Shiver's definition of crazy is different.
And I know that almost everyone has a different idea of beauty.

By crazy, I'd say, experimental, unrestrained, enthusiastic.
By beautiful, I mean unbored, open, fresh, happy, steady.

I think that would be what everybody is really, if they find themselves, and be that.
Then the word conform wouldn't exist.

A crazy and beautiful world would be better than heaven.
