a crack in the sky
like a great papercut
you wouldnt even notice
except its just so there.
its like the deadly car crash
or that wiggly tooth
and the crack in my sky
has got to be you.
"this year" i told myself
"nobody is gonna stand in my way
i dont need to fall in love
when im still in high school
and the hours i spent worrying
about looking better
and being better
and attracting somebody,
its not happening this year"
"because ive got big dreams,
because i could be anything.
i'll get in the best college
and i'll make a big difference.
and this time,
nobody's going to stand in my way."
and then i worried just a little
over the dark line in the sky.
and today i found myself
watching you
and wondering if
you're watching me.
i smiled in spite of myself
when you happened to sit next to me.
(and i like to pretend that you picked that seat on purpose)
and i got amazing amount of joy
from sharing a smile.
and now im willing to find out if the crack opens to show off a storm
or a sunny day
