We have to. Simple as that. It is our purpose to live, Just as the salmon seriously needs to get upstream. A child seriously needs a good grade in arithmetic. A peacocks display must be seriously stunning. And a young man seriously must get laid.

is that referencing you? cause a young woman does too---not a come on, just a fact. actually, none of my female friends are getting laid--either our boyfriends have just broken up with us, or we are still in love with some one who doesn't feel the same way (me, see midnight_mail_drop for just how calmly and rationaly I'm being...sure...) or te boy lives far away...weird. it's like the summer of no sex. except for one friend, but she and her boyfriend live together, so they have access. Bastards.

huhuhuhu.. what the hell does who is getting laid this summer have to do with this thread? The reason SOME people take life seriously is b/c they may not feel they will get another chance or that there is nothing but a void and true deadness after death. Or they actually value the people they have in their life, which can be veiwed in many ways.... or they may just enjoy being alive and some of the things that make them happy in their life. Damn! If can't give a answer to this question, then u need to just die...one less person backing me up in traffic! And maybe they won't run out of the one thing I need from Walmart.

Yes, why take life so seriously? It's nothing but an insignificant little speck in comparison to the grand stature of 100,000,000_trivialities...

Just remember that you're standing on a planet that's evolving And revolving at nine hundred miles an hour, That's orbiting at nineteen miles a second, so it's reckoned, A sun that is the source of all our power. The sun and you and me and all the stars that we can see Are moving at a million miles a day In an outer spiral arm, at forty thousand miles an hour, Of the galaxy we call the 'Milky Way'. Our galaxy itself contains a hundred billion stars. It's a hundred thousand light years side to side. It bulges in the middle, sixteen thousand light years thick, But out by us, it's just three thousand light years wide. We're thirty thousand light years from galactic central point. We go 'round every two hundred million years, And our galaxy is only one of millions of billions In this amazing and expanding universe. The universe itself keeps on expanding and expanding In all of the directions it can whizz As fast as it can go, at the speed of light, you know, Twelve million miles a minute, and that's the fastest speed there is. So remember, when you're feeling very small and insecure, How amazingly unlikely is your birth, And pray that there's intelligent life somewhere up in space, 'Cause there's bugger all down here on Earth. --Eric Idle, "Monty Python's The Meaning of Life"

I don't take life seriously, but I do. I have to work my three shifts a week, or I'll be living on the street. I have to pay my bills, or I'll be living on the street, so if you keep me from working three shifts a week (or from getting to take the courses I want, cause I'm a nerd like that) I'll flip. I need my three shifts a week. Except this week I only have two. I'd rather loose over 100 dollars in pay then 600 dollars combined tution and books (test tomorrow) But really, I'm super laid back.

globalfruitbat, No I'm not a salmon nor a peacock. I once was a child but that was long ago enough now, that I don't qualify as young. I'm also in favor of casual sex, so I guess I wasn't referencing me at all.

are you a cabbage? i am not a cabbage. god made mud. and that mud got to sit up and look around. "what a great job, god! i certainly couldn't have done any better." and then i laid down again, and was thankful to have seen such neat stuff, especially whem most mud didn't even get to sit up and look around, and went back to being mud. really, i'm serious, that's how it happened. what is worth considering "important"? think about it then go a level deeper, and take it from there.

In reference to me, I take life way to seriously and that makes me very sad. That is why I love to laugh so much. People I know, think of me as a joker, they vdon't quite get that if I didn't have gallows humor I would be lost.
