So let me see if I get this right:
The same people who once told us to feed our children SUGAR and GRAIN as PART of a balanced breakfast, then slowly lost the balanced breakfast part until we were eating "cereal bars for on the go people"..THESE are the people we think care about our health more than profit?
The same scientists and medical experts who fought tooth and nail to prove that smoking DOESN'T cause cancer, for FIFTY YEARS..so they could keep the big tobacco research grants..are the ones who care about whether we live or die?
The same people who came up with those "Nights and Weekends" cellphone plans that had "Anytime Minutes." They didn't tell you they'd be using up the anytime minutes FIRST..even on nights and weekends. (Anytime minutes. I saw what you did there.) Those same people who didn't care one bit about the suffering caused to a million families dealing with unexpected $400 phone bills. They didn't care about the strife and misery caused in a family, when a teen had acted responsibly, but still got to feel bad about it. But that was then. Now, they care about us, right? Our healthcare heroes, the suffering..the elderly. Suddenly they care about all of us more than profit. Because that's their history and their habit..right?
The same people who have lowered their own taxes, kept the minimum wage at $7.25 an hour for ELEVEN years, (when we used to raise it almost annually) and outsourced American jobs or approved immigrant visas for skilled laborers at an ALARMING rate until unemployment has skyrocketed. These same people care about our future? These are the people we want deciding the "new normal?"
So just tell me..if you were standing in my shoes, fifty years into this thing..watching people like a hawk as I do, because of an abusive childhood..would YOU believe any of this bullshit?
I think the working class has lost it mind. Why are we trashing small businesses instead of corporate HQs? Why are OUR neighborhoods burning? Why are we beating EACH OTHER up? Why are we shaming and yelling at EACH OTHER?! This is INSANITY. We all KNOW who's to blame. Why are we still following their advice? Why are our TVs still on?
