what_gets_your_attention
elimeny okay, i addressed this in nice_guys_finish_last, but i thought i would start a new one for this, because i really wanna know... what exactly gets a guys attention? i mean, if you are nothing gorgeous or amazing looking, what the hell can you do to get a guy to pay attention to you? i feel so stupid asking this, but my curiosity is killing me... advice? 030824

minnesota_chris Tough one. For me, a waistline, and clothes that show it off. It doesn't have to be a bare midriff, just wearing clothes that indicate you are not built like a linebacker.

I decided that women look for three things (in looks): skinny, good hair or no hair, and happy. Happy is probably most important.

elimeny hmmmm...... i wouldnt go with the skinny one... skinny boys kinda scare me... but i guess the hair thing is right... now, as for happy guys. what about all those goth chicks out there? they want miserable and depressed... do you ever read sexy losers? there was a comic a few weeks ago about goth love.. you should read it its awesome... but i guess i would say i definitely go for the happy guys. 030828

misstree is contrary today ahem.

being one of the aforementioned goth chicks, i just have to say, *i* don't go for depresso guys, nor do most of the goth chicks that i know... we may tend towards the strange or the moody, but barring just individual personality quirks (the mothering types and such), depressed goth guys are still just depressing.

i'm too sleepy to start bitching about people thinking all goths are depressed.

as far as what immediately apparent factors in a male get my attention, well, someone meeting my eyes, individuality in expression, um, an easy smile... thinking, thinking... a bit of androgyny is always nice but not neccesary, and above all else, confidence.

minnesota_chris hmm, I'd call that happy, happy, androgynous, and happy... 030828

misstree and again i disagree... i think, if anything, someone meeting my eyes is confident, combined with a certain openness... known some very turbulent souls who weren't afraid of the inherent challenge... individuality in expression, well, i'd chalk that up to artists, and artists tend to be more angry and depressed than goths, and confidence is a combination of strength, comfort with oneself, and fearlessness. i tend to be especially confident when i'm angry. 030828

elimeny im sorry misstree, i honestly didnt mean to upset you... i was joking, only from my personal experience with my goth friends... i tend to make fun of goths a lot, and im sorry, i should stop. 030828

misstree 's okay, i get a little oversensitive with goth stereotypes, especially first thing in the morning, and that's when i'm most likely to be argumentative. i think i used it more as an excuse to get up on a soapbox than anything else... (like i need an excuse ;) 030828

Just a thought Some of the most atractive women i have ever met were not that good looking or thin or whatever. Its all about how you carry yourself. Confidence some people call it. When a woman walks in to a bar and looks like she owns it DAMMMN THAT'S HOT 040907
