one night, whilst stoned...I was walking through this insanely large crowded...crowd downtown with a friend of mine (who was also stoned). every step was about two inches forward due to the massive crowd of people all trying to get somewhere (ever so slowly). It was absolutely ridiculous and hilarious (especially to a very stoned me) and I kept thinking to myself "this is like a goddamn video game" and then i swear to god i kept hearing video game music. in a loop. the cartoony happy funny sort u find on mario bros. later, my friend swore to the god she does not beleive in (just for the sake of swearing on something) that she was thinking the exact same thing. the video game music made me shake with giggles.

i love video game music...it's so contained and repetitive, and yet it offers infinite variations in the mind of the listener. In it's simplicity is comfort. Ninja Gaiden, Castlevania, Double Dragon, Final Fantasy, MegaMan! It's rhythms match the tasks required, the exact rhythm of jumping or dodging or attacking. There is no room for loose or uneccessary thoughts. The repetitions keep you from that, beating faster than your pulse can, answering your ears faster than they can ask questions. keeping you strapped to your seat and lamenting first the limits of this video game world and then the endlessness of the real one. Wishing it could be either or.

I think I like all the Final Fantasy scores, even the older ones. FFX is really fun because you can actually go to a place and listen to all the music in the game. But my favorite song was the FF7 battle theme.

Almost any squaresoft RPG game has brilliant music. Nobuo Uematsu is a genius, and so are many of the other people that work at squaresoft. Nobuo Uematsu even had an article in time magazine once. But, then again, all_your_base_are_belong_to_us was the main feature of time magazine once. If you haven't heard some of the orchestral or piano arrangements for final fantasy games, such as Ami, Aeris' Theme... and a thousand others, than you are really missing out. Please, listen to at least two.

Minibosses rock! They are this three piece (electric guitar, electric bass guitar, and drums) rock band that plays NES video game music. If like the old stuff like contra, metriod, megaman, and castlevania you owe it to yourself to check them out at www.minibosses.com and download some mp3s. ...

Final Fantasy and Castlevania have my votes hands down... i've actually owned both on tape... the one that will always stick with me the most, though is the song from zozo (the haunted town) in, i think, 2 american... dloo DO doooo, doo doo doo doo dodododo doo do, doo do, doo do doo do doo do do dododo... repeat endlessly while trying not to get kilt and yet find that friggin' chainsaw. *grin*
