count not the ways as people and combinations of people. count the way one describes oneself as alone...and then spin exactly 180 around and count the way one finds oneself unalone. while you're at it, try the opposite exercise. forge first a way unalone, close your eyes (keep them closed!) and find again that way alone. probably not a Great Law of Thermodynamics, but still a sort of empirical guideline. |
