Any emotion is a good vessel for powerful songs
Not all anger or all joy.
Longing,
Confusion,
Despair,
Heartache,
even Contentment a few notches below outright Joy.
But, of course, there is also the question of "What good is raw emotion without the talent necessary to express it?"
The streets are filled with a million overwrought would-be poets and singers who have emotion to spare but no voice or hand to make coax any kind of identifiable life from it...That a portion of those actually manage to get recording contracts anyway is somewhat beside the point
