| e_o_i | Okay, on the serious side, as regards the North Korean defector, it's not unheard-of for someone to come to a place of greater freedom, find it less than perfect (because what place is perfectly free?), and construct an idealized version of its past. E.g. Ayaan Hirsi Ali (author of the book Infidel) contrasting "the Enlightenment" with "postmodernism." I can't imagine going through what she's gone through, but that doesn't make her immune to criticism, e.g. of oversimplifying concepts and using buzzwords. ("Woke" my tired eyes. Grr.) | 210712 |
