thank god you asked. first one: sex. if i talk about sex on the first date, the guy automatically assumes he's getting some. so i usually just keep my mouth shut. i wish we could discuss it without implications. second thing: this sometimes comes up on the first date, but i would have to say beliefs. for instance, i didn't know my friend rob was a conservative catholic republican until i had been friends with him for a year. this is an extreme example (and yes, i'm still friends with rob), but i'd like to find out on the first date if this person hates gays, or is racist, what have you. i think i have the right to know. and that sort of leads me to the third thing:
psychosis. i usually find out way too late that the person i'm drinking with is insane. this covers many grounds, but usually they end up obsessive and heartbroken. i don't know what this is about, but i wish someone would just tell me on the first date if they are obsessive, and i would say thank you, and slap down some money and leave.

i'd like to broach the subject of the void of existence, especially as regards insomnia and depression, the apparent meaninglessness of life and what exactly my date makes of it all.
also i would want to know how she feels about time. does she feel time is just something linear and something we are bound to? also, how well does she think she spends her time? a particularly relevant question if she does think life is empty and meaningless. what does she think is a "good" way to spend time?
is she allergic to cats? that's the real clincher, i'd say, because if the answer is yes i won't be happy, whereas i don't know what answers i want to the other ones. i'm looking for someone who's not suffering from depression, and not horribly disillusioned with life (aren't i?) but someone who knows that things aren't as they seem. someone who's both content with the world and on edge because of life, someone who pushes to think deeply about things.
i'd be a riot for a first date.. *yawns*
