Once, I said that "the universe is kind." Someone called me on that the other day. The universe, he informed me, was neutral, incapable of kindness or cruelty or any other sort of emotion. And..you know, that's fair enough. To each their own. It makes for great pageantry on the stage and a better show for everyone involved. But..it was the way he sneered and took a condescending tone while saying it that caused my response. (It's at moments like these, I've learned over time, that some people get the mistaken impression I think: I'm better than them, they're stupid, I'm smart, etc, etc. Then there's the OTHER half who flip flop it, and assume my thoughts are no deeper than a walnut lying on the ground, waiting for it's husk to fall off, so it can get down and funky with the dirt and sprout some wood. It's all stage play to me, so I play it by ear to keep the improv lively. The universe is watching itself, don't want to let it down. 😉 ) "But what's kindness? If you save a life..is that a kindness?" "Depends upon the life. Take Jeffery Epstein for instance." "Haha..ok true story. But if you save a life is that a kindness? I mean modern medicine's entire pitch is based on the kindness of saving human lives..or improving our condition, right?" "Yea, but you said the UNIVERSE was kind. That's not doctors. That's the universe. It's a machine built on rules." "So is the medical establishment and besides..when did we stop being the universe? Since the big bang happened, when did we stop being that same stuff? Aren't we the universe still? That makes the doctors the universe 'being kind.' And if we're the universe, become sentient and aware of itself, then isn't being the HUMAN part of the universe a great kindness? The universe is kind my friend." *silence* "I'll have to think about that. But I doubt it." The universe is kind my friends.
