Reflecting this year, on the tradition of giving that reaches back into human antiquity, it occurred to me, that this was truly one of the HUMAN rites that has stuck with us to this day. Through giving at this time of year, those without, were kept alive through the harsh and unforgiving winter. This because of the human impulse to give;to show compassion. With that in mind, I asked myself, what is an indicator of the spirit of the Holidays as it exists today? Are we still practicing that very social, very human act of giving and compassion? How can we tell? Ask yourself this: Did more people ask you what you wanted for Christmas..or tell you/hint at what they wanted themselves? If it's about the giving..how exactly SHOULD that work out?
