personally i think he's going to do a great job...because we all know that celebrity automatically means competency at all things. and that thing about him not understanding or empathizing with women? please. he made junior.
i just hope he comes to work in his conan outfit just once. record voter turnout. wow.

Arnold couldn't be any worse than our ex-govenor Tom Ridge..now firmly ensconsed in some high office of incompetant entropy..Tom Ridge, his state of the union addresses were these robotic regurgitations of staid republican touchstones..that's it.. he never said anything that you felt like came from his heart..never said anything that sounded like it wasn't crafted out of the machinations of speech writers (mediocre at best) and spin doctors.
ah the mantel of celebrity..my my my americal a whole continent of vapid sheep..we deserve the depredations of demagogues..the artistry of deflection..these are the shallow waters popular culture has shaped..sculted out..and of course this is mostly tongue in cheek..so
its so sad..i like the bit about annexing arizona though..i think pa should annex south jersey and New york should annex north jersey..no one would notice the difference any way..
arnolds been talking about running for office since 1988..every move he's made since then..even marrying a member of the kennedy clan..and the daughter of sergeant shriver..was a well though out move..you can't buy that kind of political by association pedigree..so arnold if anything is shrewd..or his handlers..let's hope he doesn't get caught chanting in front of a portait of Hitler with tears streaming down his face..blech

either way, we'll see. if he messes up...well heck, it's pretty easy to get a recall going. and if that's a bad idea, well then recall the recall. who needs stability to get jobs done. why should total ineptitude or malfeasance be the only routes to a politician's being replaced mid-term? popularity should be an issue, just like in high school. plus it helps if you ever need a scapegoat to make alarming national issues seem controllable. of course, if no change ensues...that's when the scary stuff begins. we'll see if ahnold has what it takes to placate the people. at least we know we're safe from robots sent from the future to destroy us.

Unfortunately, S, most of the american electorate only respond to that shimmering galvanizing cattle prod of celebrity, or evocations of fallacies framed in an indelible fixity upon the american collective consciousness - hearkening to a so called simpler happy time. Most americans of any so called political stripe (i doubt if any of the shimmering minds here could ever be called obtuse or apethetic, civic or politically) are content to lurch through their labotomized lives endlessly masticating the cud of consumerism and pop culture. Blissfully sheathed in their torpor. You've brought up some really good points..unfortunatelly the same forces that helped sweep Gray from office will now invert themselves, placated by sheen of facile and perfunctory pronouncements and statutorial servility to fallacy, pereceptual, empirical fallacies.
The entropy of status quo expediency will probably prevail. I hope I'm proven wrong in this instance though.

arnold's robotic by rote as in he regurgitates everything his wife and handlersforce feeds down his muscled throat and when he deviates from that narrow stream of coherence you get the classic ahnoldspeak a kind of fascist gobbledegook...
with stallone you'll get the same narcissistic preening as with ahnorld..with a different twist 'casue of stallone you know being yes well muscled but relatively diminutive..and of course stallone will continue to show that he's used those millions on elocution lessons and a vocabulary enhancing course...but then he'll mispronounce the words and use them waaaayyyyy out of context...
it'll be a riot...almost as funny as listening to "W"
