I can only think of no.3... Wasn't The Ring a burden.. sin is described in the same way, as a burden, in the Bible..

you could connect greed with the ring/ gollum. or sin yeah... erm frodo had to bear the burden of the ring (jesus had his cross) frodo also was not perfect, jesus was only a man. both faltered at times and had their weak points...ummm
i dont own a bible.
frodo had to destroy the ring to save middle earth, although he didnt die but did suffer greatly...
any of this help, i just babbled...
and i've only seen the LOTR movies. someone who's read the actual books probably would know the characters and plot better.
