The sky was still then As all the clinging leaves And everything was peaceful But strange So I floated down the canal And stood above the icy river Waiting for you The knights were sleeping then As the forgetful black crows And a calming cloud took a strong breath Upon me So I lingered there and seeped the breeze Yet so suddenly the breath consumed strength And it came like a slow reluctant waltz Trees softened by it began to dance Waving their arms feather-like Beckoning me to the succumbing Their watery dance so alluring And the soft waltz gliding away For that flirtatious moment The trees were my lovers And they flattered me with their call For that fleeting moment Sparse through another dimensional time I felt the warmth of an embrace And the sweet longing comfort that it brings Throughout that dream I hoped that the trees would blend And mould your soul So I could see its skies again But then the waltz changed And metallic noises came And around the trees and I Several thousand cemented blocks stood Severe and frowning at our dance Shaking heads with displease And as I looked back The trees were immune to life Like they had been before And sadly I returned to the blocks Walking sluggishly on my feet... But the ringing notes of the waltz remained intact in a tattered mind and one day it will soar loudly, turning blocks into ashes and dancing freely to the everlasting branch ritual.
