dafremen You know,

For a period of time there, I would pour over the pages of the Bible, ignoring the bloody, angry, vindictive ego-driven bullshit that was obviously inspired by egos.

Mostly, I read the words of Jesus, learned what a lying ego-maniac Paul(aka Saul) was, compared the Gospels for consistencies and inconsistencies to weed out the chaff and focus on the wheat of the book. (They all have wheat in them..they all have chaff in them.)

I thought I was pretty familiar with what was going on in there, until the other day when I opened to the Book of James. (For those who are unfamiliar, there are two James' in the New Testament, one is the brother of John the disciple, the other is the brother of Jesus. This book is claimed to be by the brother of Jesus, and judging by its content, I don't doubt it one bit.) How did I miss this book?

It was astounding how little crap is in that book. I'd say nearly none..if any at all. It's beautiful and if you read NO other book in the Bible, please take the time to read this one..believer or not, I think you'll find it's message simple, plain and almost universally acceptable among people of good conscience..whether Buddhist, Muslim, Jew, Atheist or otherwise. (Just mentally replace the words Lord, Jesus, God etc..as appropriate to your belief. Tao, the Universe, the evolutionary process, Allah..whatever.)
