I mosey up to the bar and lean over, waiting for dave to finish up with a fellow i recognize and will chat with later. I catch a strange look coming from the chap next to me out of the corner of my eye. I'm not the usual customer here. He turns my way finally. He's not the type to show much emotion, but I can tell that he's surprised and glad. He asks about my monday. I ask if I can get a whisky sour. He says "yes, you can get several" and proceeds to make me about 4 drinks packed into one glass. My eyes grow wide. He pulls out the normal little glass, plops a cherry in it, and pours from the first glass. Puzzling. Oh but there is no dissapointment from dave. He gives me both glasses, so I can give myself refills! "what do I owe ya?" "not a thing" says dave. i was ready to have his children, but dave prefers subtlety, so i just smiled and left him a five. |
