pete this year was momental for a few reasons.
it was my first race in over two years (the last being a half marathon in northern ontario).
i've recently lost a grandmother to cancer.
it was my first terry fox run in ottawa.
i ran with my little brother the whole way.
i think i was drunk when the race started.
it, also, was the twenty-fifth anniversary of the original marathon of hope.

last night as i walking along parliament hill, on the far side of the road from parliament, i looked up at the statue of terry fox, a true modern canadian hero if there ever was one, where i saw his arms full of flowers. full of remembrance, full of tears held back, full of hope.
