pete sometimes i feel like talking to you requires me to say things that could end up with my queen being captured, my knights tied up, and my rooks trapped behind a row of pawns only to have you step away from the table and leave me attached to my disaster 041025

mourninglight disaster always lingers on the horizon

you are only free if you can still step away from the table without remorse

and begin again.

pete the game never ends until the kings falters
and his crown is tarnished in the pool of blood at his feet,
yet that point will never come
if you keep backing away
from the easy kill that lays before you,
instead you draw me in,
letting me think i can win,
or at least have some fun,
only to abandon and leave me with remorse
and questioning intent as if it was my own,
when really it is not

chess is great foreplay He laughed and danced my captured queen across his arm. I got up.
"Bring it on," he said. I tackled him.
"You're doing your fear laugh," I said, trying to tickle him.
"Well yeah, you're scary when you're mad," he said, laughing. "Truce! Truce! You're all smiling-- it's freaky."
I made my move.
"Checkmate!" he said, moving his rook. I got up and headed back to my room. "No, no, no, my love!" he said, catching me before I got there and then trying to brush the hair away from my face. "You're really mad, aren't you?"
I "humph"ed and tried to turn my head.
"One of these days I'm going to win," I said.
"Ah, my love," he said, wrapping me in a big hug. Then he laughed and patted my head. "Sure..."
I tackled him again. Big laughing pile in the middle of the hallway.
"Ah my love," he said, kissing me hard. "How can I make it up to you...?"
