i was informed the other day that, in a drunken stupor at a bar i approached a fellow who was known in my social circle for having acted rather discharitably in a matter of the heart towards a close friend of mine. he also happens to look like harry potter. apparently i greeted him as such and then thanked him for all of his help in fighting back the dark lord voldemort. then i panicked at having said the name out loud and cried "please protect me harry potter" but i continued on from there to pull a branch off of a tree and offer it to him as a wand. his girlfriend was there and i kept calling her hermione and asked her if she'd like a ride on my nimbus 2000 or if she'd like to see what a real magic wand looked like or something equally juvenile. then i said i hope you've got a spell for herpes. which this fellow was known to have by most, but apparently this was information she only just became privy to by my ranting. i then asked him if i could show him a spell, which he agreed to as the onlookers laughed and he patiently waited and hoped my drunken interest would fade. so i turned around and flatulated in his general direction while mumbling some latin phrase. i then claimed victory in a wizard's duel over him and walked off. was that too much?

it all hinges on the discharitable transgression against your friend. without knowing that, it is not possible to say whether you went too far or, say, not far enough.

the children in my father in laws class get very upset when he refers to harry potter at barry potter. barry is just an up himself over privleged smart arsed rich dick head with glasses. stuff him. talk of him no longer. he and his crowd are a waste of space.

it was quite a discharitable transgression. though i am a bit biased and protective, i say this with the sense of abstract objectivity i have been trained to attempt. it was a wrong that all would wish to avoid. and attempting to give me a black eye would likely not have been in his best interest. though that doesn't often stop people. perhaps he felt a small degree of contrition.

and your response, was it sufficient for you? surely you must have considered that through the lenses of abstract objectivity, given your automatic tendency to do so (thanks to your training). has the negative reinforcement leveled upon the foul discharitânt taught him a lesson he won't soon forget? are we safe, yet again?

of course, what i really think is that your response was incredibly witty, drunkenness aside.

Personally, there are few people left for whom i would go out on that sort of limb, but that does seem more than a little humorous
