I stood by the sounds ringing in the doorways in the halls, in the phones, banging at my ears like a one-horned band. Like the blaring of lungs, breathing hard and staggered. They rise and fall, minute man soldiers. Smile my lips move, be happy for your heart beats. To be no more alive than these breaths streaming from my cracked lips Like secrets escaping padded walls. And I fall into dust. Dust piles of being. I am gone. |
