in need of a friend." definitely a put-down for both myself and my friends. i never put up with it. but of course, that immediately bars all kinds of new people from being friends-- just because they might have had this thought or impression that makes my paranoia levels go on orange alert. i'm not hopeless, nor do you have to be a perfect saint to be my friend. it's just not that sort of a situation. the solution is always that i must not defend myself so mightily. then it ends up being their fault, and only slightly my own. |
