I looked to the T.V. for my example,
and looked then to my school
I looked to those places where
they told me
that our leaders were
I looked to those
who'd looked as well
my neighbors and my friends
and think I understand now,
but would hear it once again
for the looking has left questions
to be answered
if I'm bound to do
the things I've seen
being so little
when society is everything:
Why is it our way
to teach our people not to kill
by taking another's life?
Why is it intelligent
to target the not so bright?
Why is it that to be beautiful means
to obsess upon our ugliness?
Why do our leaders of industry
tend to work their bodies less?
Why are some
who take for themselves
called thieves
while others are praised as heroes?
Why can't we strike with angry fists
but may with angry words?
Why do those who protect us
point their guns in our direction?
Why are we so lost
if indeed our leaders know the way?
Why do I have these questions
if society is the answer?
