epitome of incomprehensibility

A European social theorist, sort of Marxist/media studies... Someone was just asking me what I'd read by him and I searched his name to find a recent interview: http://www.guardian.co.uk/culture/2012/jun/10/slavoj-zizek-humanity-ok-people-boring?CMP=twt_gu But I'm no expert. I've only watched a film documentary on him and read his essay "On Violence," which ends something like "Maybe the greatest violence is doing nothing." In the interview Zizek talks a bit about the economy - he jokes about being totalitarian but then says capitalism is leading to its own kind of dictatorship. (Totalitarian... Reading right now Hannah Arendt's The Origins of Totalitarianism for project.) Oh, and first there's a bit about sex. Apparently he isn't into casual sex, not because it's wrong, just potentially embarrassing. Huh. I suspected that was a more female attitude (or else just mine, because I'm weird.) Gender assumptions challenged, yay! But I'm still a student, so I'm still stupid, apparently. Love ya, Zizek.
