Among the names I have given myself here over the years, one of them is 7macaw (from Mayan mythology).
In the Popol_Vuh 7Macaw is punished for his vanity and trickery with the loss of his teeth.
Several years ago, after my diabetic diagnosis but before the weight loss, I went back to taking event security gigs at a few nightclubs here-and-there. At the last one I took, some tweaker clown freaked out and started swinging a folding chair. I was hoping to tackle the guy before he did any serious damage and for the most part, hey, mission_accomplished right? Well, mostly...
If the flat of the chair had caught the crown of my head, no problem...instead, the frame of the chair hit me on the right side of my jaw. No immediate, noticeable damage
Then a month later a filling dropped out and that tooth shattered. And then several surrounding teeth (upper and lower right molars) came loose and dropped.
For a short while after that I was feeling particularly aggressive and stupid and went looking for fights or where fights were very likely. Cleared out the remaining loose ones on that side.
Some time after I settled down and got that out of my system, I tripped over my now-departed Shadow on the way to the bathroom one night and busted out three of my bottom front teeth and an un-caught fragment of one of those busted teeth triggered a fun case of diabetic periodontal disease that caused all but two of the rest of my teeth to drop out.
Surprisingly, I don't sound like the typical toothless goofball, but I still find it oddly hilarious that I have met the same fate as that mythical namesake

I still manage a surprising amount of crunchy foods. Until I get some dentures or somesuch, though, I really miss honey-roasted almonds
