in a word: painful I feel compassion for my former selves. I could only have been what I was. I could only have done what I did. The only useful reason to reflect on the past, is to improve my future, and my future impact on the world. And so, I don't think I am making a mistake by not pondering it too much. The lessons are not lost just because I don't waste a lot of time thinking about the circumstances by which they came to me. At least, I hope not. I'ma live on that assumption for now, because it seems to be serving me well. |
