In the streaked pastel throng of lunch breaks fighting for space on a sidewalk in a ritzy part of town, a man with tanned skin and actually visible toxins from cheap rum rising from his skin in the humid August has a comical sign that approximates the ubiquitous sign for approval from a social media network - a large comical thumb like the approving roman emperor of old and the sign reads, "will like social justice on your behalf for money or food." A few feet away from him in the small outdoor seating area of a café a small well-dressed retiree reads a newspaper with headlines of a far off war. A woman in a teal running jacket, and tight yoga pants, approaches the old man whom she knows and strikes up a conversation about the war. "It’s a shame when innocents are lost. if only something could be done." |
