look, kids. what you feel and know as purity as a state of mind you have come to accept based on the values and ideals you have constructed through you interaction with other. Your template for purity is in your head, driven by what you believe and founded on ideas from within your self, as well as ideas learned from listening to and observing others. given the strength and self conviction you can at any time explore this conviction, and alter your template for deciding what purity is. Just because you have done something for 1 or 2 or 'x' years does not mean that you should keep doing it forever.
if you feel a struggle, perhaps it is because parts of map of reality are out of sych within yourself. if you're smart enough, and aware enough, you can update those parts without damaging the map as a whole. be brave, and hit that refresh button on your brain, and see where the cards fall then.
