Now I know that when things feel really bad, they're only as bad as I make them. Now I know that when things feel really bad, I should have a snack. Now I know that when things feel really bad, I should call a friend. Now I know that when things feel really bad, I should get outside. Now I know that when things feel really bad, I should go to bed early. Now I know what doesn't help. But there's not enough space for that.

what if they're hard to unmake? what if outside chills you to the bone? what if you've run out of friends who care enough to listen? what if things feel so bad you can't get to sleep early? nitpicky, maybe. i want to believe easy solutions exist all the time and things are fixable and nothing is beyond our control but i think the fact is some things inevitably are. or maybe sometimes they're not and we're just too lost to see it.

Oh, I wasn't saying it was simple. I was suggesting that I know certain ways to shift my perspective. And that it's all about perspective- not what "happens" to you. what if they're hard to unmake? You can't unmake anything. You have to deal with what's there. what if outside chills you to the bone? turn on some music and dance around inside, or go to a cafe or a library or whatever you're into. what if you've run out of friends who care enough to listen? find new friends, and work on listening to them. what if things feel so bad you can't get to sleep early? relaxation exercises, breathing exercises, guided usually, if your mind is too thrashed to guide itself.
