of electronic_music in general: it's repetitive. your brain can get used to it, allowing you to relax into the beat. it's not repetitive; the evolution of the beat delights your mind. the synthesised sounds have a pure quality about them. Listen to some early stuff like 2 unlimited or eurythmics (sweet dreams, specifically)- the simplicity of the notes is amazing. alternatively look to hard house artists for advanced synth that has some real power. deep bass reverberates into your body, feeding energy directly into you. I do like a bit of drum n bass, if it's evil sounding. deep dark and evil. aw yeah. You can predict, almost subconsciously, when a new noise/sample is about to come in. Listen to some basic, minimal techno and count the main drumbeats; after eight or 16 beats something will change (listen to Nasty Habits - Shadow Boxing for a perfect example (dnb)). your mind responds to this once it has learned the rules. that nasty habits track never gets old. Listen to some really good techno, and it will surprise you by changing in unexpected ways. People like the chemical brothers, orbital and the prodigy make some amazing tunes in terms of complexity. listening to techno is like excercising your subconsious. the sheer energy levels involved can be exhausting - listen to ultraviolence (eg masochist breakdown) or even some happy hardcore for a good example. or they can be bizarrely chilled (soma fm/groovesalad internet radio) even with a high bpm drumbeat. house music has its own rules, a little more funky that your traditional electronica. let me send you some tracks, and if you still don't get electronic music, we can argue some more.

not everyone is drunk enough to get on stage & slap the drums, either. I had bruises for a week, but I tell you: that was one of the funnest nights of my life...
