i thought here would be a nice place for you to share what quality musical discoveries you've had of late. you seem to have a knack for finding good tunes. by putting it here instead of email it absolves me of some of the selfishness of the request by allowing others to cast an eye (and, by extension, ear) towards your recent goodies.

the dirty projectors!
these bands have put on the best live shows i've seen in a long time (i just saw both of them this week).
if anyone ever has the opportunity to go see either of them, i would highly recommend it.

when i was listening to sunset i was thinking it had a little wolf parade flavor. a few minutes later i was looking at their website where it says that one of the members is also in wolf parade. _who_ i ask you _who_ is the one with the musical wizard ear? dat's right, jimmy! (pardon the third person nickname-based dialogue.)
dirty projectors are coming to the independent next week, which is a fav venue of mine (and now walking distance from my new home, wheeeee). they sound a bit challenging, but that's the kind of thing i usually appreciate once i take the time. clearly crazy talented.

yeah spencer krug is involved with wolf parade, swan lake, frog eyes, and sunset rubdown. i like them all but appreciate sunset rubdown's style the best, i think. especially after having seen them live. that spencer krug is one talented guy.
go see the dirty projectors! it took me awhile to get into their recorded music (though i do really like it now), but i was very taken with their live show. just sayin'. :)

that was awesome. i just got back from seeing dirty projectors (by way of a slice of pizza in the lower haight). kick ass. they are channeling like 43 different bands. i can't believe that folks today are into them, because they've got too much going on. but sure enough all the indie nerds and hipsters were there, pretending indifference.
whoa. seriously, i thought steve howe (with the rest of all incarnations of YES) and robert fripp got together and had test tube babies with jeff buckley, palo alto, king crimson, izabelle, the who, and a smattering of brian may.
i can see why you love them. that drummer is fillin' up the universe with a five piece--what? i want to marry the two women in the band. and the combo of the two guitars getting all contrapuntal up in this muhfuckah was transcendental.
fuck, i thought they were going to bust into schindleria praematurus.
i just popped _close to the edge_ into the cd player to decomress.
i kept thinking all they needed was rick wakeman to roll out in his flowing white 70's getup and tie up the loose ends.
