Kermit Floyd was struck with the strange sensation once again and his entire being was filled with the sense of dread and loathing that came with the anticipation of the coming of something he did not want or understand. It was that bizarre turning feeling in his head, a tumbling sensation as though his very brain were twisting around and around like a cylinder, a short drive shaft pointed at his forehead. It wasn't a painful feeling though. It was more like what Kermit imagined a person might experience if they were on a certain type of drug. It was almost as though something vast were in his head and his consciousness would be forced out because there was no more room, sending it flying high above the world. Kermit was trembling so badly he could barely stand but still he managed to stumble into a dark alley. He couldn't let anyone see. No one should see what was about to happen. There was a knot in his stomach and the anxiety he felt was truly crippling yet he still managed to move away from the main avenue as he grasped the sides of his head. “Not again! Oh God! Not again!” he moaned desperately as he stumbled along but then it began. A medallion of white light opened upon his forehead, first appearing as a tiny dot then growing to the size of a half dollar. Even as the white circle began to appear a black whirlwind formed emitting from the white disc. All Kermit could do was fall to his knees clutching his head as he aimed the growing cone of black wind toward the back of the alley. Soon the entire alley in front of him was caught up in a destructive vortex with all manner of objects spinning in the black wind, tumbling in it's center and being tossed out against the walls of the alley and into the dark sky above. It may have only lasted for 10 to 15 seconds but for Kermit Floyd it seemed as though it had lasted forever as he kneeled there in utter confusion as a destructive force tore at the contents of the alley. Soon enough the mysterious whirlwind dissipated rather abruptly. Papers that had been spinning furiously now gently fluttered about in the air as they descended to the ground. Garbage spun out of the now ended vortex with an unceremonious “splat” on the walls and pavement and objects that had been tossed skyward were raining down all over the alley including some rather odious turkey offal that landed right on poor Kermit's wretched form as he bent over shaking. Kermit couldn't be bothered to glance around to see if there were any witnesses. He lurched forward and emptied the contents of his stomach even as a sense of relief came over him. It's over for now, it's over. Kermit was left to ponder the state of his sanity as he spit the residue of bile from his mouth for only a few moments before he heard a voice seemingly emitted from the alley wall to his left. “Wellll, you've done something iiinteresting . . .” it said with a slightly high pitched croaking quality. The voice sounded androgynous as though it could be a woman or a man. Kermit turned his head to look for the source and first saw a pair of eyes looking at him and they appeared to be attached to the wall and then he saw a grin form under the eyes as a set of white teeth appeared as well. Images of the Cheshire Cat leapt to his mind as he looked at it and then chills were sent down his spine as the face moved toward him off of the grimy brick wall and a black silhouette form a thin human shape around it. “A man with a tornadoo in his head . . . hmmmm” the silhouette spoke on in an odd cadence “should receive aan invitationnn”. The figure stretched a hand toward Kermit and he noticed that there was a small rectangle of paper being offered to him. “Come to Zamagott, it is a place for those who are the ones like us.” the black silhouette said. He took the card with his trembling hands and held it a little higher out of his shadow in an attempt to read it in the dark alleyway. The card was adorned with an intricate gold leaf design around the boarder and in the center of the card in elegant calligraphy were written only two words: Toy Boat. “But what does this mean?” Kermit asked as he looked up from the card just in time to witness the last glimpse of the silhouette merging with the wall from whence it had come and disappearing from sight. “Wait!” Kermit leapt to his feet and flew to the now blank brick wall. He ran his hands across it and shouted but the being did not answer or reappear. Kermit then looked at the card he had received once again and his first thought was that he must see if he could show it to a friend. After all if they could see it too then he'd have tangible evidence, maybe he wasn't going crazy. ...
