I just received word that my rental application was accepted and I will soon be the proud tenant of a largish (and cheapish) one bedroom apartment right downtown! I've been wanting to live on my own for a few years now, and finally had both the resources and the will to do so (despite all my ups and downs with my roommates I'd never leave them in a pinch)! 9 days til I get my keys, though it will probably be close to a month until I'm fully moved in :)

Ah, to have the freedom to experience the endless cycle of mitosis and reabsorption. I recommend cooking enormous gourmet meals and throwing the whole bloody lot in the bin whilst dialling for chinese. Why not become a megalomaniac. Andru235 was largely undermined by his cohabitants during his month of megalomania. You will be free of such fetters. Go crazy. Knock yourself out, literally, and enjoy hours of lying peacefully on your living room floor while no-one phones the appropriate emergency services

all i have to do is make it to lunch time, leave work early (unless there really is nothing to do today as my boss suggested, then everyone leaves early) and get the keys. so damn close. an extended week long move in, and then i'll only have to come back to this place to clean. so damn close!

my little studio apartment.
modest, but satisfactory
which is not to say that there aren't a couple of things that could bear some fixing, but the same was true of the house i lived in from the end of summer of '98 until this past october
(gods, it has been nearly ten months i have been there now)
when the contruction out front is complete, i will live right by the light-rail line, and i am within walking distance of three grocery stores, a brand new movie theater and several a good new/used record store
so with a few quibbles, i can say life is good

moved the first of my things over yesterday, most notable being the air matress and pillow so I can stay over whenever I want while the slow-move in is in process (which I want to end quickly, as I love the place already). It's louder than I had expected and the building shakes when a bus goes down the street, but I am right downtown so that's to be expected... major appliances haven't arrived yet, nor has my mail key, things still need to be worked out but it'll be good in the long run!
