ok...so I broke down and put up a profile on one of those internet things....I know I know, I feel dirty, ashamed, but maybe a little trendy. anyways, so I got freaked out and pulled it, butnot beofre I started "talking" to this guy who actually just lives like 100 yards away from me!! (crazy right?!?!) so we have talked a few times and each time is at least a 2 hour conversation.....godd conversation too, like I dont want to get off the phone with him. But its all so intimidating tho!! I saw apic of him , and he's seen one of me, but I think hes outta my league!! so I'm really nervous about meeting him!! omg, stopme from ranting anymore....i just wanna hear all YOUR guys' online relationships!!

hmmm, wow, I'm sorry that happened to you. A similair thing happened to me when i was 16, although not quite so sever. but it was an online thing too. i dunno, I wouldnt do anything stupid like go to his place or anything....just coffee. I do realize bad things could come of it. and i would say that i have talked to him a while and he wouldnt do something like that.....but thats not foolproof.

I had someone stalk me from the internet - but he was a stereotypical West Virginian ...kinda slow so I wasn't too worried about it, just annoyed. I've also met about 5 other people from the internet and all but one of them had issues. They were kind of creepy. So I personally like to stay away from meeting people on the internet. But just to contradict myself - Underneith I know I'll do it again!

meeting people online is creepy, if there is ill intent. it's very much like those phone services for singles. creepy. i always think, 'how desparate does a person have to be that they can't meet people anywhere else?'
there must be a ton of reasons for seeking relationships on the internet, but i don't think there's anything wrong with those that just occurr accidentally. the internet has definately changed the way we communicate as a whole, but meeting someone new in the frozen foods section of the grocery store, at the librbay, or a friends house party is probably not that different. you can meet someone in person, and they can still be dishonest. and you can meet someone online that might be living 2 doors down from you - who knows.
i think the creepy factor should be measured solely by the level of expectation attached to the online relationship - platonic or not.
