repulse? how/when? (though it's that feeling of innate repulsiveness that i'm always hoping to dispel for longer than just a few, scattered here-and-there moments... that feeling of always managing to be the wrong person at any given moment, an intrusion, a mere pretender)

The RADIANT glow of the morning sun shone through the window when SHAIN awoke from his dream of the LastOrchesta, a dream that had haunted him as long as he could remember. He rubed the sleep from his eyes as he thought about the Pumpkin-Colored Goddess that allways apeared in the LastOrchesta. Was she real? Sometimes he was sure that she was. Like his dream was a vision. SHAIN sat up and noticed an envelope on his table. He knew it wasn't there before. Not last night anyways. On the front was written "BLACK GATE" and on a gold leaf stationary inside was a simple hand written note. One sentence long, it read "Meet me for your Unexpected Fortune at the horned tower." "The horned tower. . ." SHAIN muttered to himself. He had to prepare. There was no doubt in his mind, he would go. He didn't know how the note had gotten there nor did he care. Maybe, just maybe it was the Pumpkin-Colored Goddess. SHAIN made his breakfast as quickly as he could. Golden Bee pancake mix didn't take too long to prepare. A side of bacone. Some milk. He thought about how he would get to the horned tower while he ate. It was on the southern outskirts of town. The trolley lines stopped well short of it though and he wasn't sure how much of a walk it was. He dicided he would take a motor carrage. There were allways taxi drivers waiting for business in the morning down by the Angel's Nest Cafe a few blocks away. It would be more expensive that way but SHAIN was willing to pay. Maybe, just maybe it was the Pumpkin-Colored Goddess. SHAIN walked down to street corner where the Angel's Nest Cafe was packed with morning customers stopping for a quick bite before work. There were a number of cabbies waiting on the curb by their cars. SHAIN walked up to the nearest one, a black motor carrage marked with a yellow sign that said "Alice Club Cabs" He talked to the cabbie and told him that he wanted to go to Sunset Avenue and W.F.CANNERY. The intersection wasn't right at the horned tower but it should be close enough to walk comfortably. SHAIN wouldn't ask to be driven strait to the horned tower. No one would. He hopped in the back of the carrage while the cabbie turned the crank starter and then got in the cab. They were off. Half an hour later SHAIN was dropped off on W.F.CANNERY in front of an old factory and he set off toward the horned tower as soon as he paid the cabbie. It wasn't long before he could see the tower in the distance. It was made of dark grey stone with curved spikes crowning the top of the tower. It made a foreboding sight as he walked down the dusty streets, but still. Maybe, just maybe it was the Pumpkin-Colored Goddess. When SHAIN finally came to the wall surrounding the horned tower he hadn't seen another soul in the area. This part of town seemed completely abandoned. He walked around following the wall untill he reached a black door with a rusty plaque on the wall next to it. The plaque said "BLACK GATE". SHAIN pushed on the heavy iron door and it slowly began to open. As he entered the doorway SHAIN thought to himself "Maybe, just maybe, it was the Pumpkin-Colored Goddess." ...
