"More student loans! The bankers need more money! More student loans, the bankers need more money!"
Ladies and gentlemen, it is time for us to start taking education funding seriously. Can't you see that we're falling behind the rest of the industrialized world? We can't sustain a healthy industrial economy unless we have a qualified workforce, and qualified means capable of handling long periods of time without sunlight, immune to boredom and with no real aspirations to keep them daydreaming out the windows.
We must carefully improve our ability to take young, creative, inspired, restless minds and bodies and turn them into mindless automatons with their hands folded neatly in their laps all obedience-trained and boredom-ready.
That, ladies and gentlemen is going to require funding. Lots of funding. And then its going to require even more funding than that.
In order to thrive in this new world economy, we must take advantage of every available resource. A nation's people are it's most valuable resource. With this in mind, it seems imperative that we continue to improve our ability to take advantage of people.
