endless desire monster massive was my first rave last night. it was at the LA sports arena in downtown and there was 40,000 people there--it was absolute madness and i loved it. we met so many obscure people from all over the city ...and all over the world, actually. the music seriously took over my entire body and we'd just lay in these huge groups of people giving back massages and light shows like crazy e-tards. it was definitely a new experience for me. 061029

when darkness falls i missed it. i couldn't make it out to LA because i couldn't get two days off work. paul and armin rocked everyone's world, i'm sure.

i'm glad you liked it, endless. there is nothing better than feeling the music and knowing that everyone around you is too.

endless desire aww i wish you would have gone so we could talk about how awesome it was together. i mean, it was quite a lot of money but i sure as hell had fun. and it's something to do on a saturday night than sit around at the UVs (i live at this place called "university village" and it's a big apartment structure for college students in the area--it's really awesome--that's how i found about monster massive). 061031

jackie "this is techno" mc cracken god, i miss raves...

my first one was a recurring, floating affair (different location every time) called "The Big Payback" back around '90 when there was more Acid House than techno and the rave scene is some parts was run by small but very influential cliques of drag queens

My personal favorite though was a halloween rave in SF called Cyber-Spider about 14 or so years ago (it's kinda blurry) , i don't remember which part of it i enjoyed most, the company i was keeping, the chemicals i was ingesting or the ubiquitous presence of topless go-go dancers wearing butterfly wings and christmas lights

(...or that my then-sort-of-G/F and i went back to our hotel with one of said sparkly butterflies when the party started to drift off a little after sunrise)

or my endurance record: 14 hours at the Silver Dollar Club's 36 Hour Mega-Rave (summer 92)

when darkness falls i wish i had gone to raves/acid house parties in the early nineties. all i can do now is listen to mixtapes from that era and pretend i was there.

endless, next year i will most definitely go if i'm still here. but meanwhile i want to check out one of those 3-day campouts.
