looks interesting, i definitely like the cat people tarot. something reminds me of misstree and sab when I looked at the curious tarot. the golden tarot for pete. the minchiate tarot for daffy or maybe the haindl tarot. for oldephebe the minchiate. for puredream and borealis the renaissance tarot. the aquatic tarot (and I'm not saying anything bad with this) for pipedream. Hmmm....the russian tarot of st. petersburg for ......who fits this classification.....anyone? the sola busca tarot for ....okay I'm drawing another blank here....not kookie...ah....I've got it...the storkman. Voodoo Tarot of New Orleans for all the partygoers....oooo yeah ...rock on dudes...hehe and the william blake tarot for sub rosa. so anyways here is some info for you all. http://www.facade.com/tarot

Thanks smurfus, it seemed a bit incomplete without assigning someone a deck of tarot cards. *grins back at Pete*

"The Renaissance Tarot is a modern deck, with symbolism drawn from the heroic age and rendered in renaissance style. This deck is an excellent choice for exploring questions of passion, mastery, and the inner workings of human reason." oh doar...*smiles*

i'm surprised you haven't mentioned the rider waite deck. it's a sort of christian-influenced deck, but it's typically a starter pack because it's very simple and user-friendly. the other variations i've seen that looked interesting are dragon tarot (big disappointment), mythic tarot and oriental tarot. personally i use a thoth deck.

The "minchiate tarot" definitely fits and appeals to me, Doar. My wife is the tarot person, though, not I. She has a collection of about 15 decks that she's found at swap meets, flea markets and yard sales. We have the 80 card edition of the Thoth tarot. The alternate version of the Magus are fascinating and allow you to get a feel for the card better.

By comparing the commonalities between the three different versions, patterns emerge that cut to the heart of the meaning behind the symbolism. Skill, dexterity, cunning, cleverness and mastery are all evident in each of the drawings, even though they are distinctly different, one from another. It is similar to the way that I went about understanding the symbology of the various signs in astrology. Although no two people are exactly the same, by comparing, say, all of the Cancer people I have met, with one another, patterns have emerged that have allowed me to understand better the core essence of the sign as well as less essential similarities. (Example: There is an interesting physical feature around the eyebrows and eyes of many Cancer women. Almost a sharpness to the eyebrow line of many of them that is distinctly recognizeable from one to the other. I couldn't explain it to you, though. You'd have to see it for yourself and compare to eventually learn what it is that I'm talking about.) It would be interesting to see if comparing say, the Thoth, the Waite-Rider and some other well-executed, well-known decks would give one a better understanding of Tarot symbolism.

I got the connolly deck when I was about 13 and it's never served me well, really. I was thinking it had to do with me, rather than the deck, but I've been playing around with my love's sacred circle deck and it's always dead on. As is my usual way, however, I can't let go of the connolly deck. I put it away for awhile (the guitar needed company) and lately I've been trying to infuse it with the right energy (to no avail).
