someone who broke my heart, time_and_time_again, responded to me by saying, "lighten up." the last five conversations we had, aside from the literally less-than-30-seconds drop-by on the way to score blow (i assume) have made me cry, in some way or another. are you upset with me for my marriage? that now everything you told people appears to be a lie? how do you think i feel? why haven't you bothered to ask? the phrase "lighten up" is almost always, if not entirely, a response to make someone feel inferior. there is really no loving intention behind it. my knee jerk? "fuck you." my actual reaction? yet to be determined. so far: silence. |
