Terribly broad question, I know. But answer it anyway, please? What is everyone? I'm liberal.

depends on your definition of it on an issue by issue basis, i think. i believe that all people should be treated fairly and that the standard definition of what most political conservatives call fair tends to favor themselves and thus negates any supposed fairness on the other hand, i think a lot of people expect too much in exchange for too little, which would call some to label me a conservative (in the negative connotation) i favor reproductive choice but i also favor capital punishment ( i also believe that a lot of the cases currently awaiting execution in this country should be retried to allow for the poential of exculpatory evidence coming to light so as not to kill any innocents) unlike many professed conservatives here in the US, i believe that if you say you want less government, don't be a complete hypocrite and only mean less social services while increasing the size of government in other areas (example: under the Reagan administration, the level of social services decreased while the actual federal payroll went up, legislators threatening to impose controls on the entertainment industry while failing to control the savings and loan debacle or the effects of recession on the farming community etcetera) and during this time frame the homeless population swelled to levels not seen since the early stages of the Depression yeah, it's a broad question and there's no really good answer i believe in drugs and rock and roll and nobody dictating to me what kind of sex i am allowed to have, i believe that everyone should be judged on their own merits and that those who need help should get it but i also believe that the help given should include finding a way to be self sufficient and i believe in punishment where there is guilt and i'm long-winded, sorry

i'm pretty much liberal. i believe people should be able to do what they want as long as (and this is the part that screws everything up) they are willing to accept the consequences for their actions. i think the only conservative view i have is my view on capital punishment. i don't really see anything wrong with it. sometimes i think liberals go to far in the name of humanity. but civil disobedience is something i would have married thoreau for. i think mister mourning got it pretty much right.

Interesting question indeed. I wouldn't term you a liberal unhinged. You seem very middle of the road. True Liberals only focus on the freedoms, never on the responsibilities that come with them or the consequences that come with not accepting those responsibilities. I feel the same way...pretty much. I believe fair can only be seen in the long term view and so what seems unfair today, is fair if in the long run, the consequences and the outcomes are fair and/or just. I voted for Clinton the first time he ran, for W. Bush the first time he went up. It's really not about liberal or conservative for me. Not Democrat Republican or otherwise either. It's about simple common sense. (Oh he wants to finally give me some of my money back when I'm getting taxed over a third of my income?! That's the guy for me!) Priorities change as you get older, idealism gives way to the realities of living...and surviving. You stop being the only one depending upon your decision making skillz and your ideologies. Suddenly you have mouths to feed, bills to pay, and a whole slew of folx that will face the consequences of your mistakes right along with you. Suddenly, less idealism and more realism makes sense. So you give up a few idealistic dreams to raise some kids, but you keep hold of the core values that mattered, have and always will...and you try to pass them on. Freedom, Justice, Repect and Compassion. Seems to me that there's a little bit of all of those things on BOTH sides of the coin of political philosophy. Conservative...AND liberal. Put me down for a half a pint of each. Hold the fanatics.

Right wing hawk here. Nobody gave me anything - my education included. As an independent industrial contractor, i see greed as the motive force behind virtually every decision made. If you want to improve peoples' lives, make them want it for themselves. Ok, i make exceptions for widows and orphans, but only just. But, karma has a funny way of biting you in the ass. I have a valadictorian daughter who's going to make one hell of a fine bleeding_heart_libertarian lawyer. How the hell did that happen? ;-) ³

I'm a flaming liberal. Big government is awesome. I'm also a conservative Christian, believing in and trying to follow God... so I get arguments wherever I go.

I'm torn between social darwinism and the idea that everyone should be ensured a certain quality of life. This causes me to be angry with capitalism but not really know if there is a better way to do things, or if there should be, if you know what I mean. Overall, I would have to say liberal.
