unhinged at the risk of sounding like a dirty hippy, i don't think anything is worth fighting for so much.

funny, it came up in conversation with my cousin last night; i've never been in a fight in my life. except with my brother. that doesn't count.

would rather be a beacon of peace

Strideo mmmm, the bacon of peace. he who wins the fight eats the bacon of peace I say.

oh, you said beacon . . .

although, you know "fighting for something" isn't always a phrase meant to be taken literally right?

when I first heard the Beastie Boys song '(You Gotta) Fight For Your Right (To Party)' I never really imagined that they literally meant that you had to go out and fight with the use of physical force and violence.

I do however believe that sometimes force is both necessary and ethical especially when resisting force used by others to deny you your rights. I don't see how simply capitulating could be just or moral.

unhinged fighting implies hostility whether or not you are actually throwing punches. making a conscious, concerted effort to lay down hostility doesn't mean you capitulate.

you can live a gentle life and still attain everything you might hope for. happiness is the opposite of hostility. practicing hostility in any form doesn't get you any closer to happiness.
