Ouroboros

By reading stories and myths that humanity has created, I can put words and context to what I am going through. My struggles, strengths, loves, desires, all become part of a greater story. Greek mythology has always been close to my heart- through reading books, studying classic art, and learning Ancient Greek. In class, a classmate told me, after hearing my story, that she kept seeing me, as a goddess, a warrior goddess, holding my spear, fierce and beautiful. So I vowed to look into the past to find someone to identify with, to amplify my story. I found Hekate. She guards the doorstep, and so is on both sides of the door. She is of the crossroads, on the edges, holder of the boundaries. Witchcraft, sacrifice, birth, death, rebirth. Sanity, madness, health, nurturing, ghosts, new moons. I have met myself through myth. I see myself through a different frame. I am both myself and her. So I take her name in honor, and practice.
